Experiencing harm and rejection from caregivers, family of origin, or partners can wound us deeply. It can feel like the painful memories continue to overshadow your daily life. You find yourself in similar relationships, making yourself small in order to get some semblance of love, connection, acceptance, and safety. You spend so much energy anticipating and attending to others’ emotions and needs, that yours are overlooked. You feel like you have abandoned yourself. Whether you are recovering from an unhealthy or abusive relationship, or seeking to more fully embody your lived gender, you’re ready to work with a specialist who can help you heal and embrace your full, authentic self.
I admire the bravery it takes to begin therapy. I understand from my own experiences of accessing therapy, and from my years as a therapist, how vulnerable it can feel to reach out and open up to someone new. Particularly for those of us who have experienced harm in relationships, it can take time to build trust. We’ll work to lay that foundation, and decide together on a pace and process that feels safe and supportive for you.
Let’s begin with a consultation so that you can be sure I’m the best fit to support you in your healing journey. Together, we will explore your goals for therapy and discuss different options for how we can effectively address these, tailoring the therapy process to your individual needs.
