Get to Know Lily Krutel
“Lily leads with compassion and wisdom, working from a feminist and liberation-based framework to empower personal growth and healthy relationships. Her clinical expertise in the treatment of trauma has been a healing gift to clients whose lives and relationships have been disrupted by traumatic experiences.”
“Lily is someone I would recommend for therapy as we have had many clinical discussions that demonstrate the grounded clinical foundation that she brings into the room, in addition to a heartfelt compassion and caring that cannot really be trained into anyone. Lily is a real one, and I think that she is a true healer.”
-Lisa Mestayer, LCSW
“I had the pleasure of working alongside Lily for nearly 6 years while she provided a safe and welcoming support group for clients of our program. I witnessed firsthand how compassionately she interacted with clients of all different backgrounds. I know that many of her clients deal with the most complex traumas, and I know how delicately and expertly she provided therapy for each of their specific needs.”
-Sasha Sommer
“Lily leads her practice with empathy and compassion when working with clients struggling with mental health issues. She is ethical, has integrity and is one of the kindest humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”
“Lily is bright, kind, warm, thoughtful, attuned, approachable, and has a wonderful sense of humor. She weaves who she is into her clinical work resulting in ease in relationship building and facilitating safety for her clients. Many of Lily's former clients have informed me of their positive experiences in therapy and I have observed the ways in which she has fostered healing. I cannot recommend Lily more highly. You will receive excellent care resulting in meaningful change from a deeply committed clinician.”
For 15 years, my work has been dedicated to serving survivors of unhealthy relationships and interpersonal trauma (e.g. intimate partner violence, sexual assault, community violence, immigration trauma, intergenerational trauma, and systemic and historical oppression). I’ve supported people living with HIV/AIDS, complex health issues, chronic pain, and substance use in relationship to trauma. I’ve worked extensively with gender-expansive (Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, Genderqueer, etc.) clients and provided WPATH assessments/letters for gender affirming surgeries.
I am a compassionate, experienced, and affirming therapist, working from a feminist and liberatory framework. I identify as a white, queer, cisgender able-bodied woman with lived experience relevant to my work. I think about identity, suffering, and healing in the context of the oppressive systems that impact peoples’ lives (e.g. patriarchy, white supremacy, homophobia, transphobia, racism, xenophobia, fatphobia, ableism, etc.), and understand that healing ourselves in turn benefits our loved ones and communities.
I create a supportive space in which you can feel seen, understood, believed, and in which your lived experience and your values are centered. I am aware of the power dynamics that exist in a therapeutic relationship, especially when our identities differ, and welcome this often-avoided issue into the room. No need to perform or edit yourself. This is a chance to show up as your full brave self.
In addition to my passions for therapy and social justice, I love spending time with my dear friends and my dog, reading, making arts and crafts, slow mornings, neighborhood strolls, travel, thrifting, sharing a good meal, and laughing.
If it seems like it might be a good fit for us to work together, let’s connect!
